IP Convergence: Beyond VoIP, Beyond Cost Savings

Gert Nieveld, Director of Operations Service Solutions in the Naarden, Netherlands, offices of Global Crossing, has been with the company since 1999. Besides setting up the European PM organization, Mr. Nieveld created the world’s first global optical wavelength product, established sales with key incumbent carriers, and performed M&A activities. Over the past three years, Gert created and established indirect channel sales and other outsourcing solutions enabling partners to benefit from GC’s worldwide presence and services. Mr. Nieveld holds an MSC from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. He brings two decades of expertise in Telecom and IT in the field of business development, sales & marketing, operations, and product development. Gert has held leadership positions with service providers as well as with software and equipment suppliers in Europe and the USA.

Few telecom companies operate on a global basis, as it is not easy to grasp the commercial, technical, operational and, foremost, cultural peculiarities of each country or region. In Perspectives I will regularly analyze these matters, specifically for the European market, and address any other items that I consider of interest in my own opinionated way.
