IP Convergence: Beyond VoIP, Beyond Cost Savings

Gary Miller is Manager of Mobile Convergence Services at Global Crossing. He is responsible for developing the product strategy and delivery of next generation mobility application services. Gary has over 10 years of experience in wireless and wireline telecommunications, including product management, development, engineering and architecture. Previously, he was with Cingular Wireless where he was responsible for device technology requirements to support messaging, multimedia, and browsing products and services. In addition, he was responsible for device development to support 3G/UMTS and IMS and assumed product management responsibilities for multimedia messaging services.

I will delve into some of the more complex and challenging aspects of service implementation and delivery in the Fixed-Mobile arena. Currently we are bombarded by industry media topics of IMS, FMC, NGN and a host of other acronyms that blur the lines between hype and real value in the telecom space.  The ubiquity of Voice, Video, Data, and Presence across multiple access networks will be discussed in a way that hopefully will add clarity with relevance.
