IP Convergence: Beyond VoIP, Beyond Cost Savings

Jim Lippard is Director of Information Security Operations at Global Crossing, where he has responsibility for global security operations, including network security, incident response, security administration, and compliance. He began his career in computing at Honeywell, where he was a systems developer on the Multics operating system and participated in the reviews and testing which led to Multics receiving the first B2 security rating from the National Computer Security Center. He has held senior security operations positions at Primenet, a national ISP, GlobalCenter, a large webhosting provider, and Frontier, a national telecom provider. He also worked as a “research philosopher” for Genuity when it was part of the Bechtel Corporation, reporting to the CTO. He has a master’s degree in philosophy with a minor in cognitive science from the University of Arizona, and a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Arizona State University.
