SIP and VoIP in the enterprise

Glad to see Global Crossing is behind enterprise grade SIP and VOIP. I would agree convergence is finally taking hold for the reasons you mention. The trade mags have predicited the death to TDM for ten years but we keep on selling it, installing it and servicing it. Perhaps the next few years will be the big push for SIP and VoIP in the enterprise, just as the past few years has been the big push of migrating from PBX's to IP PBX's.

It will be interesting to see what happens to to the RBOC's as their line, trunks and PRI's start to get replaced by SIP trunking and Internet over one pipe. The last mile copper may be supplied by them but most likely won't be supplying the dial tone from the softswitch, which could really impact revenues. But they'll probably rebound by pricing their competitors out of the market like they did with DSL. Remember all the DSL providers like Rhythms, Northpoint and the only one now left, Covad. The LEC destroyed the market in a less than 18 months. Should be interesting none the less.

Use the "|" character to create a "piped link," e.g., "[[w:public transport|public transportation]]" displays as "public transportation."
