Zune
I do think the Zune is interesting, but a quick look at the support section of their web site ( http://www.zune.net/en-US/support/ ) shows a range of irritating, and if I may say so, typical Microsoft problems with reliability. My Winodws Mobile phone needs regular rebooting. The iPod/iTunes tandem seems much more solid by comparison. I know there are plenty of iPod detractors out there as well, but most of the rants seem to be about battery life or problems when jogging or bemoaning the fact that iTunes owns them, NOT the most common Zune problems of Windows being unable to recognize the device, or this one, "You receive error code 87, 10065, 10113, or 10114 if you try to sign in to the Zune Marketplace or you try to play content from the Zune Marketplace" With a lifestyle device, irritations like these will cause users to abandon the platform in a fit of pique one day. Say what you will about Microsoft's might, they have their failings in this regard and I'll be very surprised if they can really deliver "a smartphone that seamlessly will link into Vista".
