Check out the thorough overview of the FCC’s recent positions with ILECs allowing for the mega-mergers, the response from consumer groups on the potential lack of competition , and Verizon’s recent move on making USF a revenue contributor to themselves.
As I stated on TMCnet, I agree the timing between FCC's position, the enviornment creating mega-megers and Verizon's capitialization may create a lack of competition.
But how can they argue the surcharge against a tariffed service?
